Party Time!

Me and Ryan the night of his 8th grade dance. Yes, sigh, he is bigger than me!

The last two weeks of the boys’ school were a whirlwind- to say the least. There was Kindergarten stepping up and Grammar school graduation (with all the dances and parties that now seem to come with it!)

Now mind you- all the hoopla was brought on by one person- and one person only. Me. I decided that parties were in order…yes- lets have three rounds of parties here…and lets make the last one a catered affair with a Seussical theme! The fact that my older guy Ryan was really digging the Seuss theme only made me more determined to devote every crafty bone in this bod to my mission! (I gave him- then read to him through tears “Oh the places you’ll go” the night before graduation. He loved it.)

It took about 2 months of planning- hours on Pinterest (yes- what a punishment- but someone has to do it *she sighs dramatically*) a few trips to the craft stores and lots of nights laughing together with a big crafty mess and takeout dinner on the dining room table- but we did it. And I am really happy with how it came out! This has been such an important part of our little home these past few weeks that I wanted to be sure to share some of it here with you!

Let the party begin!

What kind of mom would I be if I didn’t decorate the car and honk embarrassingly at pick up the last day of school? At least I didn’t paint my face!

My boys! The next time I get a photo like this, the little guy Liam will be graduating 8th Grade, and Ryan will be graduating college!

I spent 3 hours on these photo booth props- you can be darn skippy I was going to say cheese!

Paper straws, home made pinwheels, ribbon topiarys, and a loud splash of Seuss colors….

Who can resist a red boa?

Yep. It was a funtastical day!!

what joy will you create today?

Crafting the JOY and “meh” of Winter

I have a love-hate relationship with winter. Come November 1 after all the pumpkin spice palooza- I can’t wait to cozy things up with knits and layers and all things comfy-cozy, and then comes the magic of the holidays, the thrill of the first snow and the delight of slow cooked dinners and nights by […]

The Joy of Challenges

After the holidays where we give so much of ourselves to others, January gives us a welcome chance to look inward and see how we can refill our own buckets.  It’s also the time of year at the Lilypad when we host a “Month of Challenges”  where each day a different memory keeping challenge is […]

Jump start your layouts | looking backwards

It’s been said that photographs are a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone. I love that thought. Because, if we can return to a time- then it’s never really lost is it? Not to us, or to anyone who can see and read and feel what that image means to us. We can tell […]

Simplifying December with Traveler’s Notebooks

Especially this time of year, when there are so many stories to be captured- I wanted to make it a point to scrap more often- to tell more stories- but in a simpler way. I love Project Life- and I am a big fan of mini books. It’s only natural then that my attention has […]
