Maybe it’s because the school year is starting soon that I have become more focused on the rhythm of our home. It’s not perfect by any means, but it is sweet. (I have always thought it was less like the Ballard’s and Pottery Barn catalogs that lie lovingly dogeared with wish lists on my coffee table, and more like Ron Weasley’s home from Harry Potter.) Add to these thoughts a little chat I had with a member of my CT who will be turning to that awesome chapter of beginning a life with her sweetheart and building a new home home together.. and it got me thinking of those early days of DH and I setting up our own home together. I would watch Martha Stewart and This Old House as if they were Sermons on the Mount- wanting to make sure I captured each secret of home decoration (*sigh*, the channels were a bit limited then, no HGTV yet!) I had a notebook full of pages pulled from magazines (nope. No Pinterest yet either!) and I cleared the local Home Depot of about 300 paint chips on a weekly basis. It was a terrific and exciting process.. and a very sweet time.
That’s the feeling I wanted to capture in the Sweet Home page kit: a charming sort of innocence; a feeling of home sweet home. Cabbage roses, ticking stripes, blues and blushes… and I am very much in love with the little birds!
I wonder from the layouts, can you tell who on the team is staring her wonderful new chapter? Leave her some love and cheer her on here in the comments if you’d like- it is bound to make this time a little sweeter for her!
