Model Behavior

With two boys who have a lotta-bit of mamma’s creative gene- we a rolling in Legos here. Many a quiet evening is spent sifting through a huge mound of Lego brick spread all across the floor, clicking and snapping a masterpiece together, one little brick at a time. My older guy Ryan has graduated to the uber cool architectural series- while Liam still lives happily in the primary colored bricks and Star Wars Lego sets. Needless to say, I will be calling it an early day on Friday and heading out to the Lego movie!
I have wanted to design a kit to work with the tons of photos I have of these Lego moments- and I wanted to keep the pallet neutral to make sure the masterpieces took center stage. The elements needed to capture the spirit of the creative hands at work in a fun and timeless way- and when I sat down at my desk- I was truly thrilled it all came out exactly as I had planned!
And to boot- I have teamed up with Andrea of Little Green Frog Designs who has made some awesome template sets that coordinate with my Kit and Journal Cards- ย I think it’s so fun that I have a design about building teamed up with a template that makes it super easy to build a beautiful layout! ย Look at how beautifully the ForeverJoy kit and Little green Frog Templates *click* together:

  1. Oh, love this, a must have! Imagination powered memories? I used to do a lot of outdoor play like Chinese jump rope, freeze tag and anything that involved running and jumping. I can't remember any imagination powered memories at all. But, my kids play with blocks and my daughter makes pretty rainbow loom bracelets and rings! Thanks for the chance!

  9. How exciting! I have a 13 yo that is still a builder to this day and a 3 yo that loves to build with him. We spend hours creating. For his 11th birthday, we even had a Lego Party and went to a Master Builder event for the new Lego store in town

  11. I love Legos! It makes me so happy when my boys get them out and create (they are 13 & 14). We even still have Legos from when our daughter was young (she's 21).

  13. Thanks for the chance to win! My little guy loves Legos, Lincoln Logs, and has even used a jenga game to design an intricate building. I loved legos as a kid so its something we have been able to do together as I get bored sitting on the floor pushing a truck or car back and forth. =)

  15. We have two Lego-loving girls at our house and I'm thrilled to see Lego offer more girl-themed Lego kits. Love your kit – it would be fun to create pages of their Lego creations.

  17. I NEED this kit! With three boys, we have a lot of lego around here. I'm always finding it in the strangest of places! I don't really have any memories to share though – I hope that's ok!

  19. Receiving a Lego Train set as a kid was a huge thing. There wasn't all the extra goodness available. I ended up opening it up before opening any other presents. I love that imagination and creativity are so easily attained with a bucket of legos.

  21. Great kit! I really should take more photos of my boys playing lego. It is a favourite past-time in our home. The boys also love taking all the sheets and couch cushions to make huge forts in my living room – I've learned to relax. They are building memories.

  23. love the new kit!! I remember as a little girl more playing with my dolls and barbies. When I was in my room, my mom would say it sounded like there was 20 different people in there. lol As a mom of 2 boys, it's fun to be on the other spectrum and help them develop their imaginations by building things and of course, getting to knock them down, playing outside in the mud and dirt, building forts, and all the fun stuff that little boys add to our life.

  25. Looks like you've done it again. Having raised two boys and now enjoying a pre-teen grandson, I could hear the sound of small hands rummaging through piles of plastic as I read this post. For years I thought we had multi-colored plastic floors. What wonderful memories you've brought back. I can't wait to see those background papers. They look fabulous!

  26. When I was little, there was a special line of Lego for girls. It was called Belville. My sister and I spent whole days building villages and playing stories with the beautiful Lego dolls. Ah, the good old days…
I would LOVE to scrap with this kit! It looks amazing. And the templates too!

  28. Lego is Danish, and as the wife of a Dane, I'm pretty much legally required to point this out any time they come up. ๐Ÿ˜‰ My girls are massive Lego brick fans so I could definitely use this kit. And I loved them as a kid too, but fun memory? We were the only kids we knew with huuuuuge oversized Tinker Toys. Like, we used them to build forts we could actually go into. Best. Ever. I wish I had huge oversized Lego bricks! ๐Ÿ˜€

  38. We used to play pirates when my mom would move all the kitchen chairs to the family room so she could mop the floor. All the chairs pushed together was our boat. We'd climb on top of them for the deck and underneath for the hull! Thanks for the chance to win!

  39. Renne, this is just awesome ! Lego is a huge favourite here too from young to not so young anymore. My mum even got my old lego out as a Xmas present for my husband LOL.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  40. My brothers and I used to build huge, huge lego cities upstairs when we were kids. The upstairs only had our bedrooms, so we would make our city run the entire hallway, and leave it up for days. Now, my son is starting to play with duplos, and is making houses and bridges.
Thanks for the chance to win!

  42. My almost 7-year old is finally showing an interest in Lego – so much so, she's asked for a starter set for her upcoming birthday ๐Ÿ™‚ I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

  43. My kids loved Legos when they were kids (my youngest will be 40 this year) and I have saved them all. All of my grandkids love Legos too. The 16 year old and the 4, 6, and 8 year olds all asked for Legos this last Christmas. Just today I had a huge pile in my living room as the youngest was here building with Grandma's Legos, We are getting lots of fun photos of them and this kit would be so awesome. Love it!

  44. Oh, WOW! My boys are 20 and 15 now, but this kit is so perfect for the pics I haven't scrapped. I can think of a million ways to use this one. It's perfect, perfect, perfect!

  45. Great idea for a kit – my grandkids are really into Legos. They had a chance to see the Lego movie at a sneak peek event last weekend and loved it (my son & DIL loved it too). From their "reviews", I think you and your boys will enjoy it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  46. Legos are bridging generations – I made all kinds of neat things when I was a kid, and now my son and daughter love them! Much more sophisticated these days though!

  48. I remember when we were able to get new carpet for the living room, I brought home samples and dumped legos on them to make sure they would not get buried and injure us when we walked across the carpet!

  52. We didn't play with Lego's when I was a kid and neither did my husband but we sure love to play with our son. Two years ago the local museum had a Wizard of Oz exhibit and one of the things we could do was build the apple tree like in the movie. My husband and son had so much fun and when they were all done we bought their masterpiece.

  53. This takes me down memory lane, since my little brother and I always used to build our own dreamworld with Lego blocks. Such a fun time! I love everything I see in the previews! Thanks for the chance to win!

  55. I had 5 kids, and now 13 grandkiddos, and we are all Legos fans! My favorite creative memory was when my son and daughter each put together a working Lego car and then raced each other. (Those 2 grew up to be engineers in real life, too!) I am so excited about this cute kit and Andrea's templates coming out this week, thanks for the chance!

  56. Yep we live in the physical world of Lego building and the virtual world of Minecraft building too! Have your kids discovered Lego Digital Designer yet? All the lego pieces you could EVER need online! But be warned, they can buy the set they 'created'! This is on my DEFINITE to buy list ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for the chance!

  64. I really miss all the Lego play that happened in my house as my kids were growing up, but I don't miss stepping on Legos at all. No, not a bit. When I ran daycare, I would run the big Legos through the washing machine on hot to disinfect them or in a lingerie bag for the small ones. Val S.

  68. Wonderful kit; can't wait to see it all! I think any home with children has had Legos or other building toys. When my boys were small they loved Legos! & now my 2-year-old granddaughter loves her first Lego set!

  69. This kit looks awesome! My boys are so into legos right now! And the lego movie comes out this weekend as well, I think! When I was a kid I didn't really need toys to power my imagination. I just went outside because I lived in the country. =P Hehe. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  70. Love these! My kids constantly have LEGOs scattered all over their floor and they even got me some for Christmas! I used to love building houses with these, too, as a child.

Jump start your layouts | looking backwards

It’s been said that photographs are a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone. I love that thought. Because, if we can return to a time- then it’s never really lost is it? Not to us, or to anyone who can see and read and feel what that image means to us. We can tell […]
